Combined Program of the Department of Internal Medicine & the Department
of Pediatrics
Graduate medical education in allergy and immunology is designed to train specialists
in the delivery of skilled medical care of patients suffering from allergic,
asthmatic, and immunologic diseases. This program offers a minimum of two years
of full-time training and must demonstrate compliance with these requirements.
Candidates for positions in these programs should have successfully completed
an accredited program in Internal Medicine or Pediatrics and board certified
by thier respective specialty boards.
G overnance:
It is recognized that specialists in allergy and immunology, regadless of their
primary specialty, are called upon to dignose and treat individuals of all ages.
Therefore, this training program is designed to provide opportunities for equal
exposure in both pediatrics and adult group. On this basis, since 1991, the
training is a conjoint program of the Section of Allergy and Immunology of the
Departments of Pediatrics and Internal Medicine, and is duly recognized by the
Philippine Board of Allergy and Immunology.
Services offered by the section include: out patient and in-patient allergy,
asthma and immunodeficiency consultation and management; skin testing to food
and aeroallergies; path testing; drug skin testing, challenge and desensitization;
immunodeficiency panel (serum IgG, IgE, IgA); specific IgE to aeroallergens
and food allergens (Unicap); reproductive immunology laboratory examinations;
and immunotherapy.
